Hey Sports fans!!
Turns out I am terrible at keeping this updated. SO many things have happened since the last blog post so I'll try to cover some of the major things that have gone down.
THE BIGGEST THING: FRANK OCEAN RELEASES "BLONDE" or "BLOND" You decide!
Words can not express how amazing it feels to have something you worked on over the span of nearly 4 years finally get released. I wrote this the day the album came out, I'm gonna refer back to that to save time:
"Working on this album took me from LA to Miami to NYC to London and Back. The last 4 years or so feel like a dream. I was 28 when it started, now I'm 32.
I decided to take a huge risk leaving Arizona in 2009 to try and enter a failing music industry where almost everyone said what I was trying to do was impossible.
Thanks to my amazing parents and friends and dog that have helped me through all the stress that comes with trying to live outside the box.
To Frank Ocean: I don't know why you chose me to be your engineer for 2 albums and 5 years, it does not feel real. It would take a poet as gifted as you to describe how amazing it makes me feel.
Malay & Om'Mas Keith My entire aesthetic is based off of observing your genius.
To all my friends who worked on the album, congratulations. You know who you are."
And there you have it. There's not much more I can say about that. Below I will attach some photos that document my journey through this album. I aged 4 years and had various "looks" throughout the production. Sorry it's just photos of me. I don't take photos with Frank out of respect for his privacy.
NOW THAT WE GOT THAT OUT OF THE WAY:
SOUND ON SOUND INVADES THE STUDIO
I was lucky enough to be interviewed by SOUND ON SOUND (the greatest magazine in audio) recently. 3 salty Brits came to my studio and did a little video interview. It's crazy to think I was an intern in 2009 and 7 years later people actually want to hear my opinion on engineering. It was a grand honor. Hopefully I don't come off like an IDIOT. ( I will)
Things are getting really crazy with technology. Over the last few months I thought it would be fun to set up my studio so I could live stream anything happening in here in real time to the INTERNETS. Somehow I managed to figure this all out and I've been doing some really fun live streams. I plan to do some LIVE MIXES, Writing sessions, LIVE IN STUDIO SHOWS and all sorts of fun stuff. HOWEVER, so far I have mostly been streaming our new WEEKLY live FREESTYLE show titled "ELEPHANT WORLDWIDE FREESTYLE THURSDAYS" we go live every Thursday 9 PM PST (Assuming I don't get lazy) We kicked it off with a FREESTYLE COMPETITION for BEDROCKTOBER FEST which took place at the building that my studio is in. I made a youtube video which showcased the best moments of the EVENT. It was a HUGE SUCCESS (~8 viewers lol) and a LOT OF FUN. Follow me on twitch www.twitch.tv/jeffellisworldwide ALSO SUBSCRIBE TO MY YOUTUBE FOR ALL THE LATEST CONTENT.
PMC (the best speakers in the world) asked me to give a presentation at AES 2016. It was REALLY REALLY FUN. Met a lot of great people and had a blast. Was my first presentation at an AUDIO convention. FILLED EVERY SEAT BABY.
THATS IT FOR NOW. ILL UPDATE THIS ALL THE TIME STARTING NOW I SWEAR.
